St John the Baptist
Welcome to the webpage of St John the Baptist, our community Church and Hall in the Brockley Whins area of the town.St John the Baptist Church, or SJB as most people refer to it, was built as a dual purpose Church and Hall in the 1950s. In the late 1980s a new church was built onto the side of the existing hall.
The Church serves the estate in which it is set, and following current improvements, community use is set to expand even further. There are several community groups using the hall - these range from WeightWatchers to Brownies, Study Groups, a ladies' fellowship, church events and fayres, coffee mornings, etc. To enquire about booking the hall or facilities, please contact:
Enquiries about baptisms, weddings, etc should be made through the parish office. Initial information and advice can be obtained by attending one of our regular services (see calendar page) and speaking to the clergy.
The parish office is open between 10am and 12.30pm from Monday - Thursday, and also from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on a Thursday evening.
