Growing the Kingdom

The Diocese of Durham has been trying to listen to God’s call to think through our priorities and that process has resulted in re-focusing on the vision and values of what God is doing as he continues to grow his kingdom - hence the title of our programme.

The main priority for Christian work and our primary focus is mission: reaching out to all people with the Good News of Jesus Christ, through evangelism, social action, community development, engaging with issues of poverty and the environment, Fair Trade, as well as working ecumenically and with other faith groups.

Alongside that focus on mission, the ministry of the Church is concerned to enable and support God’s faithful people in their service of God and each other, developing effective and collaborative ways of working, as well as resourcing, guiding and sustaining all those called to particular ministries within the Church.

And at the heart of it all is the focus on God through the call to 'restore the sacred centre'.
